Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Black Bell Co.'s services and website. By requesting a quote, placing an order, or using our services, you agree to these Terms.

Services

Black Bell Co. provides custom screen printing services including but not limited to: t-shirts, hoodies, hats, and other apparel and promotional items. We offer design consultation, production, and fulfillment services for individuals, teams, businesses, and organizations in the Portland, Oregon area and beyond.

Quotes and Pricing

Quotes provided through our website are estimates based on the information you provide. Final pricing is confirmed via email before payment is required. Prices are subject to change based on:

  • Artwork complexity or modifications
  • Garment availability and cost fluctuations
  • Specialty inks or printing techniques
  • Rush turnaround requests

All prices are in U.S. dollars (USD).

Payment Terms

Full payment is required before production begins. We do not accept partial payments, deposits, or installment plans for screen printing orders. Payment in full secures your production slot and materials.

We accept:

  • Credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover)
  • Debit cards
  • ACH bank transfers for orders over $500

Payment is processed through secure payment processors. We do not store your payment information on our servers.

Minimum Order Quantity

Our minimum order quantity for screen printing is 12 pieces per design. Orders below this minimum cannot be accommodated due to setup costs and production constraints.

Turnaround Times

Standard turnaround is 10–14 business days from the date payment is received and final artwork is approved. Business days are Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays.

Rush turnaround options are available for an additional fee:

  • Rush (7-9 business days): Additional cost applies
  • Super Rush (3-5 business days): Higher additional cost applies

Turnaround times are estimates and not guarantees unless explicitly confirmed in writing. Production begins only after payment is received and artwork is approved. Delays in artwork approval extend the turnaround timeline accordingly.

Artwork and Design Files

Your Responsibilities

You are solely responsible for ensuring you own or have obtained all necessary rights, licenses, and permissions for any artwork, logos, designs, text, or images you submit for printing. This includes:

  • Copyright ownership or license
  • Trademark rights and permissions
  • Publicity rights for any person's name or likeness
  • Rights to any third-party content (fonts, images, etc.)

Our Rights

We reserve the right to refuse production of any design that:

  • Infringes on trademarks, copyrights, or other intellectual property
  • Contains hate speech, discriminatory content, or promotes violence
  • Violates any applicable laws or regulations
  • We determine may expose us to legal liability

File Requirements

We accept vector files (AI, EPS, PDF) and high-resolution raster images (PNG, JPG at 300 DPI minimum). We may request revised files if submitted artwork does not meet production quality standards. Additional art charges may apply for complex revisions or file conversion.

Artwork Storage

We retain your artwork files for up to 2 years after production to facilitate reorders. See our Privacy Policy for details on how we store and protect your files.

Order Changes and Cancellations

Changes to your order must be requested before production begins. Once screens are burned, ink is mixed, or printing has started, orders cannot be cancelled or significantly modified.

If you need to cancel or modify an order:

  • Contact us immediately at hello@theblackbell.com or 503.395.7502
  • If production has not started, we will issue a full refund minus any setup costs incurred
  • If production has started, the order cannot be cancelled and payment is non-refundable
  • Rush orders cannot be cancelled once payment is received due to prioritized scheduling

Quality Standards and Misprints

Our Quality Commitment

We inspect all orders before shipping or marking them ready for pickup. We use industry-standard screen printing processes and quality control measures. However, minor variations in print placement, color matching, and garment sizing are inherent to screen printing and do not constitute defects.

Reporting Issues

If you receive items with defects or misprints, you must notify us within 7 business days of delivery or pickup. Contact us with:

  • Your order number
  • Photos clearly showing the issue
  • Description of the problem

Resolution Options

For legitimate defects or misprints caused by our error, we will, at our discretion:

  • Reprint the affected items at no additional charge
  • Issue a partial or full refund
  • Offer store credit toward a future order

Limitations

We are not responsible for design errors, spelling mistakes, or other issues present in the artwork you approved. We are not liable for defects caused by improper garment care or washing. Our maximum liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for that order.

Shipping and Delivery

We offer both shipping and local pickup in Portland, Oregon. Shipping costs are calculated at checkout based on package weight and destination. We are not responsible for shipping delays caused by carriers or weather.

Risk of loss transfers to you upon delivery to the carrier for shipped orders, or upon pickup notification for local pickup orders.

Color Matching and Proofs

Screen printing colors are mixed to approximate PMS (Pantone) colors but may not be exact matches due to ink formulation, garment color, and fabric type. Colors on digital screens do not accurately represent final printed colors.

Physical print proofs are available upon request for an additional fee. Without a physical proof, you accept that final colors may vary slightly from digital mockups.

Limitation of Liability

Black Bell Co.'s total liability for any claim arising from or related to our services is limited to the amount you paid for the specific order giving rise to the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages including but not limited to lost profits, lost revenue, or business interruption.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Black Bell Co. from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including attorney fees) arising from your breach of these Terms or your violation of any intellectual property or other rights of third parties through artwork you submit.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Multnomah County, Oregon.

Changes to These Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Your continued use of our services after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
